Session Description :

We may finish this arc this session. Or it may be the week after. Definitely one of those two, he said confidently.

Session Summary :

They did not think to talk to the captured Oblex about Rh'agast. After some deliberation, they decided that fine we can go talk to the mind flayers Torikku. We'll ask for directions. FINE. They came upon a magma field, and were attacked at range by three Destrachans, blind dinosaur-like creatures that have crazy sonic powers. One of them used its Sonic Lance to send rocks tumbling from the ceiling above them. However, once the players got their turns, the Destrachans were quickly dispatched, but something else was in the area. Samson was suddenly teleported over the magma, but was rescued by Torriku's swift intervention. There were certain areas of mental static that confused the players' sense of direction, and tried to get them to walk into magma. It didn't work tho :(. Ritanie sensed that there was something invisible, but couldn't pinpoint it, and then she was teleported into the lava. Ritanie, however, is kind of Into Fire, and just had a nice exfoliating magma bath. Silloun then cast a Mind Shield over everyone and megomaniacally declaring that YOU HAVE NO POWER NOW. I do love it when Silloun lets the power go to their head. This fairly well neutered the Mind Flayers' psychic attacks, and then Ioha finally pinpointed one of the invisible squid monsters and bombed the shit out of it. The others then surrendered. Just in time too, one was about ready to take a bite out of crime, by which I mean he was going to try and eat Silloun's brain.

They let the illithids regroup and got the deets on Rh'agast's location. They described him as a new power, and seemed to think less of him for provoking the Drow. They don't know what he is but they're led to believe he's a telekinetic. They also said that the nest was occupied by "the Flamesoul", but the party didn't push for more details on that, for some reason.

The party then took the Torikku Express back to the Drow outpost because they were getting low on resources. The teleport was redirected into their Teleport chamber, and a squad came out to search them and make sure nothing was amiss, like maybe an evil memory eating ooze. Ioha used Eject to hide the relevant pokeball, and then the Drow detected magic (per usual protocol) and asked what the various auras were, such as that time aura. Ioha… made some pretty sketchy bluffs about one of his oozes being injured and needing to be protected, and the Drow didn't buy it. The Drow asked to see this ooze, and Ioha tried to Sleight of Hand swap it with one he'd brought with him, but Mikey rolled a 1. He spilled all the pokeballs and everything came out, and then the arguing commenced. Alas, this was not an argument that could be won. He also lost what support he had in the party when he said something along the lines of “I understand the danger to others, but I don’t care.” The Drow took the oblex away to be “disposed of” and Ioha began his descent into villainous madness. Poor lad can’t catch a break, but that’s no excuse for being rude.

Also during the search, the Drow noted the worm tooth that Silloun had collected, remarked that it was a remarkable trophy, and suggested that they take it down to the armory. At the armory, the head smith turned it into a Crysknife, a pretty cool dagger and a badge of honor among the Drow. Purple worms are kind of an Issue for the Drow, because they’re real nasty and sometimes leave usable tunnels for other monsters. Teams of rangers can take them down no problem, but the rangers rarely travel in groups, and by the time one is detected it's usually gone by the time a team can be assembled. And a Crysknife proves that you killed one. They have to be bound to a specific person and can’t leave that person’s possession, so the team decided to give it to Ioha, seeing as he’s having a bad day and also his oozes killed it by themselves.
