Session Description :

Session Summary :

We played the second Security Testing job. The contenders were Samson and three new characters: Ro, Joe's mute Strix gun sniper; Bjrakk, Drew's orcish blacksmith from Oltinheim; and Ud'ma, my (Ben) tiefling Empathic Duelist.

Theoldred, the client, asked to "assassinate" Lady Saeris, that old vampire bard we dug up a couple missions back, at a fake recital staged for this purpose. It takes place in an old manor that's owned by the Baron, but isn't really in use. Oh and there's an antimagic field over the whole place. We had a week to prepare and a 500 gp budget. Samson did most of the prep work (its not my fault my internet was shitting itself qq). He got a job as part of the cleaning crew at the manor. TLDR, Bjrakk made a pair of superficially fancy looking but actually highly functional daggers, and Samson switched them with a couple of the display weapons. Ro scouted the place a bit and found a sniping spot that overlooks the venue.

The plan: Samson and Ud'ma attend the recital and retrieve the daggers that Samson smuggled in. Bjrakk hits the south side of the manor as a distraction. Then, Ro takes a shot at the decoy Saeris, and if that doesn't do the job, Ud'ma and Samson go in for the stabs. Alas, that is not how it went down.

First bit of trouble, as Saeris walked on stage (btw, Theoldred did not tell us Saeris was a vampire), Ud'ma felt the antimagic field deactivate. A painful series of failed Perception checks later, oh goodness, one of Saeris's harp bearers pulls a sword and stabs her. She survives, and after some out of character confusion, we change plans and take out the actual assassin before he moves again. After the dust settled, Theoldred explained that Saeris suspected that Merril would try and silence her, and we were really there to stop the real assassin. We got paid extra. Yay!
